Eye and Eyelid Problems

PostPosted by Kate » Mon Mar 14, 2011 2:14 pm

While I have not posted in quite sometime I am so grateful for all of the support and resources found here.

I had 1 IPL over 2 years ago which caused fatloss (my eyes and cheeks were the most affected), scarring all over my face, my oil and sweat glands stopped functioning and I loss much of my hair.

My biggest concern right now is my eye area where I loss the most fat. I developed eye floaters within weeks of the treatment, my eyes are very sensitive to light and I have many visual disturbances. I also have developed these strange pulling sensations near my eyes.

Within the first year I started feeling that my eyes were falling back and my eyelids were changing. I saw an Ophthalmologist who told me that this was unlikely and that he did not think it was happening. In the last 4 – 6 months (2 years since the IPL) my eyes are now getting much worse. I have loss almost all the fat in my eyelids, they are covered in red veins and I continue to lose hair from my eyelashes and eyebrows. I also have these terrible burning sensations and I know that it is related to the fatloss around my eyes.

I finally went to another eye specialist who has confirmed that it looks like my eyes have retracted and that something is happening to my eyelids. I am awaiting a CT scan and have recently had blood work done.

This is so upsetting because I am quite sure this is permanent damage and I just don’t know when it will stop. Just wondering if anyone may have experienced this type of damage and perhaps have some advice.
"There's almost no risk involved," says Stephen Fanning, CEO of Solta Medical, which owns Fraxel.

The world is a dangerous place to live, not because of the people who do evil, but rather those who sit back & let it happen.
