Just wondering if anyone is currently using any of the Nia 24 products? I have looked through older posts and noticed that Bowman seemed to really like the line, but haven't really heard anyone talk about it since. I was interested in the Skin Strengthening Complex - anyone have any thoughts?

Is this product designed to thicken the skin? I think I have heard of it, but I am in the dark as for what its benefits are and where it can be purchased etc. I would love to learn more about it if possible.

I have read several online reviews and it seems that all of their products including this cream are well regarded.

Sam, it is said to thicken the skin and is good for textural issues. Here is a link to their website.

Yea I also read fabulous reviews on this product, but it was all people that were normal.

They have laser retrieval places in Korea due to so many people getting injured by them. They have doctors who specialize in them. Funny~

Thank you for the link Honey...it does look really promising if it thickens the epidermis and helps even out the dermal layer. I wonder if it can be used with the seoria-gold I'm using at the moment?

Hi Buzz, I think it might help to use this product in conjunction with your Retin A regime, as it might help to negate the peeling and inflammation you mentioned in your previous posts. I'm not sure I'm right about this though...but it seems to make sense, based on the information provided by the link above.

I will have save more pennies to get this one though. I think I now have enough potions and lotions to open my own skin clinic

Yeah Sam, this is all pretty much putting me in the poor house. Has the IPL thinned your skin too? My skin is just so paper thin and fragile now. I'm hoping this will help thicken it up and give it an all over healthier look and feel. Think I will order this week or next. If I don't like it I will send it back. I really fear that my skin will be too thin for Dr. G to do a fat graft so I want to try and make it somewhat thicker and stronger.

Me, me, I have used Nia 24!! I just finished my first bottle. And yes I like, but it is a tad pricey! I just made some of my own niacinamide cream from the Skin Actives web site. So far so good. I did find initially, I had some, oh what should say, not really burning, definitely not the burning that I had for the first months, but I could "feel" my skin. Now I can't say that I have necessarily had improvements? But my skin looks healthy other than the scars. And the fat loss ... :) I definitely would recommend though.

Hello Sam,

Yea, I am actually off retin-a and I don’t think I should get back on it anytime soon. I have this burning and pulling of the skin and I found out yesterday it’s the scars that are trying to get tighter and form a real scar. Whatever that means.. It was a different type of scars that they called, but it was in Korean so and they said while they do this is causes damages to the skin around it so I am suspecting that’s what I am experiencing so no more retin-a for me. Although its’s been the miracle product, for now I don’t believe I can use it.

So taking a risk of breaking out, I am on Aquaphor again. I called the burn center in Atlanta and I am going tomorrow and they said to use vasceline for the time being. So I am using aquaphor because my derm said to use either aquaphor or vasceline rightnow. But he won’t tell me I have a burn. If I convince him somehow that I am not going to file a lawsuit I wonder if he will treat me? The dude knows what he is talking about and I wish he will just do whatever.

blue, do you feel like you were burned from the retin-a also? Others have described a type of burn from the use of retinoids. If so, I would suggest maybe having a doc prescribe Biafine cream. IMO, that would be better to use than vaseline/aquaphor.

Hi

I bought the skin strengthening cream (Sam in the UK you can get it in Space NK). It says it will make you red/flush and I did find that. In the end I couldn't cope with the redness and didnt feel it materially thickened my skin. I used up the whole pot but I didnt use it that consistently - on and off or months which maybe didnt help. Sorry to be negative and everyone is differnt esp if you use it consistently but it is a lot of cash and I am beginning to get cynical about how much any topicals can help our damaged skins...

Hello Erica,

I am not sure, honestly I think my scar is starting to grab other skin like what I have read and they said, these type scars are very difficult to treat. And I have found out waht kind of scar that is and it's called KEloids. So I have Keloid scar all over my face. Don't you just love doctors that are greedy and doesn't know what the HELL He is doing?

That is what I used. If you go onto the Skin Actives website, they have formulations for all of these high end creams. If I remember correctly they suggest there "base" cream ( I can't remember the name ) and niacinamide. That's it and definitely much cheaper.

Was keloid scarring the main type Christine Hoene had? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hey Honeycomb, I recall posting some info on niacinamide-def. seems like a product worth trying. Hope it helps.

About Christine--She is one of the few people it seems who had a doctor who cared. I believe he prescribed a topical used generally for patients with skin cancer?

Thanks for your support with the Nia, Erica. I hope it makes at least a slight improvement.

Christine was lucky to have a caring doctor with a proactive approach. I wonder what topical he prescribed. I'm sure that it wouldn't help me since my damage is too old, but it would be nice to know so those who have been recently harmed may benefit.

Here's a thread discussing Christine Hoene post6159.html?hilit=christine hoene#p6159

The cream was Aldara and here's what D said about it "The possible side-effects are terrifying. There are some real horror stories (many like ours) out there about this cream. Christine took a huge risk. I'm happy it worked out for her."

The Nia came yesterday afternoon, a few days earlier than expected. I used it last night and didn't experience any redness or flushing. It is fragrance free in that there are no artifical perfumes added, but it does have a light scent from the oils and extracts it contains. So far so good - no negative reactions, but I only used it once. The company suggests to use it every other day for the first week in order to get your skin used to it and I think I will follow this rule since I don't want to push it too far too fast. I will let you know how it works out.

Hi All, just wanted to give an update on the Nia 24. I've been using it for about a week and a half every other day (at bedtime) and haven't had any adverse reactions. I feel that it has helped soften the crinkly/crepey texture of my skin, especially forehead and under eye areas. I haven't seen a miracle as the texture is still there and so is the scarring, but I feel that it has slightly improved my skin. I've only used it about 6 times so far so maybe with continued use it will keep getting better (fingers crossed). I don't think it will ever bring me back to my pre damaged skin, but I also don't think anything else will either for that matter and at least this doesn't irritate my sensitive skin. I will keep going with it and give updates in the near future :)

Update on Nia. I used the product for about 2 months either every night or every other night until I ordered the Psoria Gold about a month ago. Once I got the Psoria I stopped using the Nia. Well this week my skin had started to look worse than ever with the pinprick holes, orange peel look so I stopped using the Psoria on Thursday (not sure if it has anything to do with it) and tried the Nia Thursday night. I woke up Friday morning with redness on my cheekbone area and by last night it was deep red, feels tight and warm to the touch - looks and feels like a sunburn. Just what I need now. I put Psoria on my cheeks last night and Cera Ve cream. I never had this reaction before in the time I used it...why now? Today it still looks and feels the same. I hope I didn't make things worse with my face. I really hope it heals. Any advice?

I wanna say its probably psoria gold. because this cream is really a roller coaster ride for me. one day it looks fine and another really bad. I am just not sure if it;s good or bad because of the creepy days I am going through. I dunno~ I mean if you were doing well before but not well now....

Hey honey, Hmm, that is a mystery... I have sensitive skin that likes the psoriagold, but does not like products with too much niacinamide. It sounds like Nia 24 is good but I've never tried -last time I used a product with too much niacinamide, I turned as bright and hot as a red pepper! It was awful, I had to wash it off right away and keep cooling my face down. Could it maybe be the psoriagold brought down any residual inflammation you had in your face, therefore making the Nia more "potent"? Just thinking out loud...

Thanks Blue and Erica for your replies. Erica I think you are onto something with your theory. I know that people can have reactions to niacin and this is what I had. Today I'm not so red and my skin doesn't feel burning or tight. Funny, I had a bit of swelling from the reaction and even though my skin looked terrible yesterday with the deep red color, my cheeks looked better in terms of fullness from the swelling...how sad.

HOney,

I know exactly what you mean by you liking the inflammed skin better. I also don't like how my skin is continually bringing down inflammation as psoria is working and the bumpiness inside the skin that I have gained from the lovely doctor burning my face to pieces are showing up more and the lines on the cheeks are forming also. I have not really gained or lost weight, but thinking maybe I should workin on getting fat for the summer. SIGH!!!!

Blue, this is such an awful thing to deal with. The Nia product made my cheeks super red, but at least the swelling from it gave me some volume. I don't like my skin's texture as the IPL has really changed it for the worse, but the fat loss has truly devastated me. I just don't look like me anymore. I'm a bit nervous for the fat graft, but I feel it's my only chance in gaining back normal contours. Is there a doctor that you are considering at this point for fat grafting? I don't know if you spoke to Dr. Heng about it, but do you think your skin is ready at this point?

Honey,
Sorry just saw this. Well, I am too scared to touch my face so I am going to leave it alone. I was wanting to do PRP but even that rightnow I am scared. Dr Heng, when I first spoke to her said I can do it after a year or so, but I honestly don't think she knew how bad my skin is. I mean how van she unless she opens my skin? I really do have a bad burn scar and they r getting more evident. I have large streaks on my face getting worse and I think all the pulling and popping I feel all day long are my scars contracting. If I asked he now she might be like no since we have been talking alot. And I see consistent changes to them each day. I really don't know what to so at this point except ask God for a miracle. I know Psoria is good but it's made for skin at the I flammation stage and my skin obviously has matured and formed. Scar and now the scars are contracting. And my skin burns 24/7 and I still can't o outside without a covering on my face and it's continually getting worse. I don't know if I can handle a fat graft rightnow. I am so glad I am a Christian because I have something I can atleast cling and hope for. It's really rough. =) but if I do fat graft after reading all the posts I was gonna go with who you were going to see. He seemed to hAve the most positive from everyone. So I wanted to do a consult with him, but since my inside of the face is all scared up, I don't know. My whole face is a scar it's bad. Well!! Wish you luck honey~

Blue, I'm so sorry that you are suffering like this. The constant burning and pulling of the skin sounds so painful and uncomfortable, it makes me want to cry for you. Blue, forgive me but I can't remember, have you gone to see a burn specialist? At this point I think that would be the best doctor to examine you and understand what is going on with your skin. I think of all the doctors out there (plastic surgeon, dermatologist, etc.) one who deals with burn victims would be the most helpful. I know you have put out so much money trying to get better but I really think that is the type of doc you need to see. You can't go on like this as it's affecting your life too much and with summer coming someone needs to get you on the right path so that you can go outside and enjoy your life without injurying your face. You should not have to shield your face to the extent that you are now and sit in your closet, it's not fair and there has to be someone out there to help your skin improve. Hugs to you, Blue.

Honeycomb,

I have not been to a burn center but know that dr Heng worked at one before. I might do that to get a second opinion. I am miserable because it's burning 24/7 and I consistently see skin thinning and collagen breakdown. Emotionally draining so I stopped looking at the mirror. I think people are sensing self-esteem issues And I used to get made fun of because I guess people thought I saw myself as more prettier than I was. But now I get different feedback. And also my mother keeps telling me and others that I don't ever smile like I used to. I can't because my face is too stiff and if I do, I get alot more wrinkles. Thanks Honeycomb, I don't even know whatelse to do t this point with so much irritation.

Blue, all I can say is that I'm so sorry that you are in this constant state of being uncomfortable. Please do get a second opinion from a burn center, as I think that it's really important for you. You need to be able to smile again and enjoy life. You deserve happiness.

Honeycomb,

I actually fly standby because one of my parent works for Delta so I fly with the flight benefits. I still have to pay some, but not like 1000 dollars you know. Well, the flights were so overbooked I could not go yesterday. Ofcourse Dr. Heng is always like lets do it over the internet and she has always been okay with that, but I still feel more comfortable seeing her in person. Not sure when I can get there bcause my work schedule rightnow. THe sun was very bright today. It was so hard driving even with the coolio hat on. I am consistently in pain and burning. I don't mind the uncomfort at all, but the problem is, the uncomfort causes more damage and that's why I am so freaking out so I have not looked at the mirror today because I am seeing my skin around the eyes consistently thining more and more. I did try to schedule something with the burn center here in Atlanta, but they didn't seem all that good so I was debating on waiting til I get to Korea or something because Koreans are very crazy about skin so they are very good there believe it or not. Last night and today was again hard. Somedays are so difficult emotionally to deal with this, but when I pray really hard it gets better. I guess I need to pray harder. =(

I'm so sorry Blue that you weren't able to go see Dr. Heng. I'm also sorry that the burn center in Atlanta doesn't seem to be so great. When are you planning a trip to Korea? If it isn't within the next month or so, it there anyway you can go to a burn center in another part of Georgia or neighboring state? I just want you to get to see a qualified expert as soon as possible so you can have some relief from this hell. I will also be praying for you, Blue.
